Plant Manager (mobile maintenance) required for a start-up operation in West Africa by an international mining company with a presence throughout Africa and the world. Long-term employment, rarely seen in expatriate mining, is potentially available with this employer's pipeline of operations and track record of site transfers and career progression.

Plant Manager Role

• Report to the Site Manager, having total mobile equipment maintenance responsibility at the site.
• Responsible for the panning and implementation of an effective maintenance program for multiple sites.
• Lead the implementation and operation of the main workshop, rebuild shop, welding bay, light vehicle garage and trades training facilities.
• Ensure that proper troubleshooting, diagnostics, breakdown scheduling and practices are in effect.
• Ensure the implementation of equipment maintenance systems and quality strategies in order to foster equipment reliability, availability and safety standards.
• Meet the availability targets set for your machines.
• Manage an international contingent of expatriate personnel and ensure the ongoing and effective training of over 200 national tradesmen.
• Implement strict mining procedures to ensure that your department achieves the highest possible level in health & safety.

Plant Manager Experience and Skill Set Requirements

• Bachelor/tertiary qualification in mechanical, electrical or other engineering discipline (ideally).
• 15 or more years in senior level surface mining maintenance management.
• Large mine site experience.
• Traditional truck & shovel maintenance management experience.
• Experience working for a major contractor.
• Track record of applying successful breakdown and rebuild/maintenance system approaches that have translated into high equipment availabilities.
• Play an integral role in successfully attaining mechanical trades training objectives.
• Good business acumen and budget experience.
• French-speaking ability would be advantageous.
• Technical and interpersonal leadership qualities.
