This position is based at our Phu Kham Copper-Gold Operation, an open cut mine located approximately 120km north of the Lao capital, Vientiane. Reporting to the Mining Technical Services Manager, you will provide leadership and direction across a range of geotechnical areas, including the open cut mine and infrastructure such as road cuttings, plant site and tails dam high walls. This is an exceptional career opportunity for a talented, experienced and dynamic Senior Geotechnical Engineer or established Geotechnical Superintendent looking to take on the next challenge in their career.

Your outstanding leadership and coaching skills will be critical to the ongoing development and performance of the relatively inexperienced, but very keen and willing, local Lao workforce. This is an excellent opportunity to really make a difference and see your team grow and develop as a direct result of your efforts.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain geological and geotechnical models, including structural interpretation and support operations
• Provide information on geotechnical issues, preventative studies and rock mass characteristics studies
• Ensure the timely analysis and monitoring of failed areas including reports and remedial actions required
• Provide slope angles and geotechnical parameters for mine design
• Mentor, motivate and develop supervisors to become competent and efficient leaders
• Develop in-house geotechnical capability, making use of consultants where required

We are seeking:

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining, Geology or Civil Engineering.
• Significant Geotechnical experience in an open cut environment
• Exposure to expatriate requirements in a developing country is desirable
• Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills
• Be committed to supporting the growth of National employees
