Opportunity
Due to an expansion and optimization program our client is looking to add bench strength to its mine engineering department of its flagship South American open pit gold mine.
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer you will be responsible for the co ordination and control of the short term mine planning activities to ensure that quality and production targets are achieved safely and efficiently following the long term mine plans principles.
Short Term Planning Mine Engineer Role
• Assist with the production of the annual mine plan for the mine operating budget, following the principles in the long term mine plan.
• Produce rolling 3 month mine plan and mining schedule.
• Produce detailed fortnightly mining schedule each week.
• Prepare and maintain mine plans for excavation, haulage and dumping, in line with site standards.
• Consult with relevant mining personnel in preparing the mine plans and schedules to ensure requirements are achieved.
• Monitor mining progress against mining schedules.
• Review drill and blast plans to ensure alignment with short term mine plans and schedules. Report concerns.
• Effectively liaise with other departments and management to optimise mine planning.
• Produce scheduled monthly reports and updates as required.
• Ensure operational designs are practical and implemented and in compliance with planning.
• Undertake projects as required.
Short Term Planning Mine Engineer Experience and Skill Set Requirements
• Degree qualified mining engineer.
• 3+ years previous experience in hard rock drill and blasting in open pit environment.
• Knowledge of mine design software (preferably Gemcom GEMS).
• Have a strong commitment to safe working practices.
• Good written and verbal communication skills. Spanish not required.
• Display effective problem solving skills.
