GEOTECHNICAL SUPERINTENDENT
Our client is seeking to appoint an experienced geosciences professional into the position of GEOTECHNICAL SUPERINTENDENT for a Philippine gold mining project.
The person will be heavily involved in many different technical and analytical duties related to gathering, monitoring, analyzing and reporting on data necessary to understand and mitigate operational geotechnical risk. This particularly relates to matters such as pit wall stability and void management.
The person in this position will interact regularly with other mine groups such as pit geologists, mine planners, and mine operations to complete projects and will consult as a subject-matter expert. Additionally, the position will be involved in the following:
• Install, operate, and maintain geotechnical monitoring equipment.
• Inspect pit slopes and waste dumps.
• Prepare and distribute geotechnical bulletins to mine staff.
• Liaise with geotechnical consultants.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
• Degree in geological engineering / engineering geology or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years open pit experience
• Working knowledge of: slope stability analysis, mine planning (Surpac), AutoCAD and GIS software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to operate independently and in small multi-discipline teams.
