Make your mark on a large tonnage, long-life, base metal multi billion dollar mining project in French Africa. The project aims to be a leader in operational efficiency, health and safety, environmental management, and social engagement. As the head of training for this prestigious project you will gain the satisfaction of being able to make a significant contribution to the long-term prosperity and development of the local population.

Reporting to the HR Director this position will be responsible for the design and implementation of a disciplined training process for plant operations, maintenance and administrative functions to meet start up and operation requirements.

Training Superintendent Role

• Work closely with the Operations Group management to assess training needs and to provide training solutions that will be culturally adequate and aligned with the requirements of a safe and efficient plant start-up and ongoing operations.
• Manage and be accountable for a large multi million dollar training budget.
• Lead a team of five (5) expatriate Training Coordinators and several expatriate and local national training advisors and trainers in designing, implementing and evaluating training components.
• Partner with EPCM contractor to transition local national employees in specific trades from construction to operations.
• Overview the construction and manage the company's training centre in country.
• Manage partnerships with training suppliers (local and overseas) as well as with the in country government Department of Education.
• Design and implement a plan to nationalize the expatriate positions in the training department.

Training Superintendent Experience and Skill Set Requirements

• Tertiary education in a relevant discipline coupled with 15 years of professional training experience.
• Experience within the chemical, metallurgical or natural resources industry in managing technical training, ideally in a plant start up environment.
• Exposure to working in a developing country is a definite asset.
• French and English language skills are a must have.
• Effective communication skills are essential as the position will interface with many internal and external stakeholders.
