Description

Under close supervision, maintain the performance of the Plant Control System (PCS) by identifying and reporting poor performing process areas and process automation components or platforms.
 
  • Identify and report poor performing processes by having process understanding of hydrometallurgy (leaching, solve extraction, and electro winning) and/or mineral processing (comminution, flotation, and solid/liquid separation)
  • Identify and report poor performing discrete, continuous or advanced control, controller equipment and software issues, and HMI problems
  • Identify and report faulty process instrumentation by having understanding of basic sensors and actuation
  • Identify and report issues with PCS communication and plant historians
  • Identify and report issues with alarm management by having understanding of alarm philosophy and alarm performance metrics
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED and (4) four years of Engineering experience relevant to process automation, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a Scientific discipline

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
