They have achieved outstanding performance through substantial organic growth together with selective acquisitions and further growth is firmly on the agenda. They have a clear and strategic plan albeit this now requires a step-change in performance and as such a new approach both culturally, strategically and operationally. There is a need to raise expectations with greater urgency and execution, and to appoint an individual who can manage a significant transformational change programme focusing on sustainable growth and profit improvement. As such we are looking to appoint an outstanding Managing Director to this new position who can lead best in class operational and mining activities and operate in an organisation poised for significant growth.


• This is a substantial and influential leadership role where the incumbent must be able to deliver a high-performance agenda, raise the bar and drive the business to maximise its true potential.

• With a blank sheet, you will conduct a full end to end strategic overview of the organisation with a focus on transformational change and world class improvement techniques.

• As Managing Director, you will report to a European CEO where you will lead the top- level strategy and be fully accountable for influencing the direction of the business whilst providing a best in class service to both internal and external stakeholders.

• You will have full accountability for all operational activities including; mining (both underground and surface pit), mine planning, manufacturing, engineering, HSE and project execution with a focus on lean methodologies, new products, methods, technologies and processes.

• To develop intimate and engaging relationships with a significant stakeholder community including; municipalities, government bodies, community groups and local authorities.

• You will drive people engagement focusing on mindset, culture and performance whilst implementing a sophisticated change programme in terms of systems, people, process, technology and innovation.

• To champion and develop sustainable business improvement programmes in an organisation where year on year growth is a given.


• This is without doubt a substantial change management role, critical to business success and therefore demands an exceptional senior executive with extensive mining expertise, who enjoys a growth agenda, a substantial challenge and autonomy.

• You will have substantial expertise within complex mining activities (underground and/or surface), where you will have an outstanding track record in senior leadership, operational/general management/MD type roles and will have the stature and gravitas to conduct a highly visible role of this significance.

• As such, your background is likely to have been gained within a best in class Mining organisation where you will have a deep understand of a range of mining techniques and commodities. Additionally, you may have experience of working in different countries and cultures.

• With fluency in English and most likely a degree in Mining/Geology/Engineering, you will be self-disciplined, highly results orientated and the type who can cajole and influence those around you.

• A dynamic self-starter, commercial and empowering, you will understand the levers required to drive performance through your team and will be the type to champion change through substantial performance improvements in an organisation renowned for developing talent where outstanding career opportunities for high class performers.
