Process Automation Engineer II or Specialist II - Multi-Location: Phoenix, AZ, US, 85004-2121

Please note:  This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time.  The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations.  This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, New Hampshire, Michigan, Illinois and New York.  Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors.  Should the position shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.

Both the Process Automation Engineer II and the Process Automation Engineering Specialist II will be based at one of our North America operations. Please review our locations at www.fcx.com 

 

Under general supervision, troubleshoot process automation solutions to support Operators and Process Engineers.

  • Troubleshoot discrete, continuous and advanced control, controller equipment and software, and the HMI
  • Investigate the root cause(s) of poor performing processes, identify any process automation contributors, and execute corrective actions
  • Troubleshoot alarm systems
  • Troubleshoot basic process instrumentation (basic sensors and actuation)
  • Troubleshoot PCS industrial communication networks and the plant historian
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

Note: Education and/or Degree type along will the minimum qualifications below will determine the position for which you will be considered.

 

Minimum Qualifications for Process Automation Engineer II

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering relevant to Process Automation, OR
  • Master's degree in appropriate Engineering discipline and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering relevant to Process Automation

 

Minimum Qualifications for Process Automation Engineering Specialist II

  • High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years of Engineering experience relevant to Process Automation, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a Scientific discipline and three (3) years of Engineering experience relevant to Process Automation, OR
  • Master's degree in a Scientific discipline and two (2) years of Engineering experience relevant to Process Automation

 

Preferred Qulifications

  • Experience managing projects
  • Leadership experience

 

Criteria/Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
