Our client, an already large but growing mining company, is growing their presence in North America further by establishing a new office in the United States to service their existing assets in both the United States and Canada. 

The Financial Controller we seek will also have a blend of accountancy and communication skills because they will be partnering with operations and form part of a new management team, in a new office that will be the driving force behind regional growth. 

Responsibilities will take full responsibility for regional finance matters including:

• Management of financial and management reporting. 
• Ownership of the budgeting and forecasting process.
• Fostering strong partnerships with other regional leaders in other functions. 
• Recruiting, training and managing a team. 
• Management of cashflow forecasting and reporting. 
• Management of risk and the development of a compliance framework. 
• Ensuring the integrity of statutory accounts. 

The successful candidate will be a CA/CPA or equivalent with a minimum of 5-10 years post qualified experience. The candidate will have likely qualified in practice auditing mining / extractive companies or at least have post qualified experience within the mining industry. Prior exposure to taxation, ERP systems and a strong understanding of IFRS will be essential. 

We are open to local and global candidates; we are also open on how we structure the terms of the agreement i.e. FIFO or residential. Those coming from overseas will be afforded comprehensive expatriate benefits.
