Supervises, coordinates, and controls the safe and efficient operation of the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) group. Supports FMI standards to maintain equipment reliability, RCM equipment, planning, and processes. Maintains budget, schedules training, and communicates with all other RCM groups.
  • Supports the RCM Program and its continual development
  • Assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of staff for assigned work unit
  • Inspects and evaluates work in progress, identifies any problem areas, and may direct remedial action
  • Maintains equipment calibrations, upgrades, and standards
  • Participates in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for equipment failures
  • May participate in the full range of daily operational duties, performing the most difficult
  • Forecasts necessary funds for RCM including materials and supplies
  • Submits budget recommendations and justifications to Department Manager; monitors and controls expenditures
  • Monitors and helps maintain equipment reliability
  • Supports equipment life cycle inspections
  • Actively participates with Maintenance, Planning, and Operations
  • Requisitions tools, supplies, materials and equipment
  • Learns all relevant RCM/Predictive Maintenance (PDM) technologies
  • Trains staff in safety procedures and maintains safety standards and documentation for the group
  • Maintains training schedule and certifications for Technicians
  • Conducts performance evaluations on subordinate staff
  • Performs other duties as required


Minimum Qualifications


  • High School diploma or GED and five (5) years of related maintenance/RCM experience, including supervisory or lead experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical mining related discipline with at least one (1) summer internship experience (or equivalent) working in mining or industrial environment
  • Additional certifications or licensure appropriate to the job may be required
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing


Preferred Qualifications


  • Minimum of ten (10) years of hands-on mechanical maintenance repair/rebuild experience with industrial equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes, pulleys, etc.) that includes:
    • A working knowledge and understanding of moving and rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes and conveyors, from an operations and maintenance perspective, electrically and mechanically
    • A working knowledge and understanding of basic prints and ability to read them
    • Proven ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals and other reference materials 
  • Reliability engineer II
  • 2 years (+) prior Ultrasonic Testing (UT) experience
    • Ultrasonic data collection utilizing current technology (Olympus)
    • Certification in Phased Array, Conventional UT, or other NDT technologies
    • Certification and or experience with Eddy Current or Eddy Current Array 
  • 2 years plus experience with Flir Thermography equipment and data collection-utilizing current technology (Flir software)
    • Certification for Level I & II Thermography
    • Experience with airborne ultrasonic
  • Possess Level One (or above) Vibration Analyst in mining/processing/smelting environment 
    • Computer experience with current Machine Health Management Software
    • Computer expertise with Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Tribology
  • Two+ (2 plus) years of fill-in supervisor experience in mining/chemical processing/smelting environment
  • Experience in supervising contractors
  • Experience in industrial project management  
  • Documented leadership training

Criteria and Conditions

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
