Description

Lead and execute the Global Human Rights Impact Assessment (HRIA) program and support a meaningful strategic approach to identifying and addressing salient human rights risks globally. Develop, manage and monitor all HRIA activity for the company, including both standalone HRIAs and integration of human rights in Environmental and Social Impact Assessments.

• Develop and oversee implementation of action plans resulting from HRIAs (to both support continual improvement of existing systems and processes and establish new measures to investigate, prevent, mitigate and/or remedy human rights risks and impacts, where necessary)
• Find, select and manage third party partners with regional expertise that can be effective partners over the longer term. This includes developing and managing budgets.
• Leverage existing stakeholder engagement mechanisms to report back to local stakeholders, as well as comparing results across sites to look for trends and opportunities to share best practices.
• Work with sites on key portions of assessments to mobilize project teams, tailor approaches to cultural contexts, and record outputs in data systems.
• Support operations globally in assurance and auditing related to human rights due diligence including annual program, customer inquiries and vendor or supply chain collaborations or investigations.
• Support Annual Sustainability external reporting in close collaboration with ESG Relations, including Human Rights data and narrative. Develop strategic approach to HRIA reporting externally across media. Complete related sections of annual sustainability benchmarks and reporting frameworks such as CHRB, SASB, DJSI and GRI. Support in development of Annual Reports to the Voluntary Principles Plenary.
• Maintain expertise on HRIAs and human rights due diligence standards globally. Participate in external forums to develop relationships and monitor emerging trends as well as influence standards development.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Rights, International Development, Sustainability, Business, Law or related area and seven (7) years of experience in human rights, business and human rights, sustainability management or related field, including project management experience, or,
• Master’s degree in Human Rights, International Development, Sustainability, Business, Law or related area and five (5) years of experience in human rights, business and human rights, or sustainability management, including project management experience.
• Knowledge of internationally recognized human rights (Universal Declaration of Human Rights and/or International Bill of Human Rights and ILO Core Labor Standards) and human rights standards (UN Guiding Principles on Business & Human Rights)
• Experience in human rights due diligence frameworks, execution, and analysis
• Proven ability to be self-directed and work independently or in a team environment
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate appropriate analytical skills, attention to detail and organizational skills
• Able to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
• English language skills
• Ability to build external networks to monitor and influence standards development

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working internationally
• Experience in Human Rights Impact Assessment program/project management
• Experience in Environmental and Social Impact Assessments
• Experience in Responsible Production certifications
• Spanish or Bahasa language skills

Criteria/Conditions:

• Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator. Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting.
• Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
• Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
• Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
