Reports to: Senior Geologist
Location: USA -Denver, Colorado

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE OF ROLE:
Leading-practice target generation and business development services in North America (and globally as requested) to identify new Resources and investment opportunities of economic interest to AGA.
Focuses time and energy on decisions that have a targeted completion time of 2 years. Contributes up to a 5-year timeline.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
TECHNICAL
• Identification of new opportunities in the USA and Canada (and elsewhere as required) through effective targeting and industry monitoring.
• Participate in the review of third-party opportunities by providing geological interpretations and recommendations.
• Support the development and application of ranking criteria for new opportunities.
• Mentor, develop and training AGA exploration personnel in the practical application of geology in gold exploration.
• Maintain an overview of target generation activities in North America and make recommendations to improve the rate of discovery.
• Assist peers to improve their interpretations and to develop/ refine geological models.
• Support the USA geological team to:
- develop an understanding of mineral systems at the local and province scale.
- build mineral system models to support target identification and evaluations

REPORTING
• Provide monthly reports on activities, issues and performance against plan.
• Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations and key exploration metrics to inform management, exploration partners and key stakeholders.
• Support the Greenfields Exploration Manager – USA to represent the company at technical meetings and conferences, including presentation of technical papers upon request by the VP Generative Exploration.

• Permits, Certifications & Licences:
• Ensure you maintain the permits, licences and certification required to perform your role. Third Party agreements:
• Assist the VP Target Generation and Greenfields Exploration Manager to liaise with JV partners, local groups, landholders and other external stakeholders in accordance with agreements or as otherwise required.
• Comply with SHEC, legal, regulatory, security and budget requirements and company values:
• Continually reinforce requirement to conduct activities in accordance with stated values, policies & procedures, and legislative requirements.
• Ensure you comply with all legal and statutory requirements applicable to role, including:
• Health, Safety, Environmental and Community legislation and regulations.
• United States Sarbanes Oxley Act, 2002 (as applicable).
• Adhere to cost budget control requirements.
• Comply with all applicable AGA policies and procedures.
• At all times act in accordance with AGA's Values.


EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED GENERAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

 MSc or PhD in Geology
 Minimum 15 years’ experience in exploration.
 An effective teacher and mentor who proactively develops the skills of peers and direct reports.
 Highly developed communication and negotiation skills, able to develop and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organisation and with consultants, service providers, academics and government departments.
 Broad based understanding of exploration, mining, commercial issues and risk management.
 Sensitivity to and awareness of local social environment, indigenous cultures, business cultures and management styles
 Recognises and is aware of the actions of local/international bodies such as NGOs and other external interest groups that may impact on mining/exploration activities.
 Proficiency with various software packages applicable to the role.


Technical Competencies:
 Recognised and respected by industry peers and work colleagues as having outstanding technical geological skills for the assessment of exploration projects in a range of commodities ranging from grassroots through advanced prospects and feasibility studies and ongoing mine exploration.
 An ability to recognise key exploration and business risk issues and develop appropriate management strategies to manage these risks.
 Ability to develop effective exploration systems, processes and key metrics to improve and monitor exploration performance
 Ability to integrate and synthesize complex and multi-layered information and model alternative and creative solutions.
Leadership & Management Competencies
 Openness to learning by proactively seeking new ideas and improvements.Able to collaborate well with others, and willing to act as a mentor to both peers and junior staff in areas of expertise.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. As per operational requirements.
