Senior Geologist: Vancouver, British Columbia, CA,

Duties: 

  • Planning, supervising and participating in drilling programs
  • Managing mobilization and demobilization including road/access construction, drill site preparation and drill site rehabilitation
  • Liaising with government agencies, land owners and aboriginal groups
  • Managing project geologists and contractors
  • Logging drill core and/or reverse circulation drill cuttings
  • Compiling and interpreting drill data
  • Generating geologic, alteration, grade sections/level plans
  • Preparing technical reports on results of the drill program
  • Providing technical expertise, leadership, and guidance in generative mineral exploration in Canada with a focus on porphyry copper deposits – developing conceptual geologic models
  • Identifying prospective terrain
  • Identifying and assessing 3rd party exploration projects through desktop property reviews and field verification visits
  • Planning, supervising, and participating in geological mapping, geochemical sampling and geophysical exploration programs and preparing technical reports
  • Participating in geologic resource block modeling for advanced projects
  • Supervising the compilation and maintenance of the GIS database
  • Maintaining working knowledge of provincial and federal regulations for mineral exploration and liaising with government agencies for work permits and claim maintenance
  • Performing other duties as required

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or related scientific discipline and twelve (12) years industry experience
  • Strong technical background and substantial experience working in lithocap-high sulfidation epithermal environments and porphyry copper-gold systems
  • Strong working knowledge and technical competence in reflectance spectroscopy – spectral data acquisition, analysis and interpretation of spectral signatures
  • Strong skillset in the use of GIS and geologic software including Mapinfo/Discover, ioGas and Leapfrog
  • Experience in working in the western Pacific and Southwest US is an advantage
  • Ability to correctly identify and accurately estimate relative proportions and textural characteristics of metal-bearing and gangue minerals in a production setting
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods used in complex geological analyses
  • Skill in effective communication, both verbal and written
  • Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
  • Ability to interact with diverse cultures and societies.
