Description

Skilled mechanical technician who applies mechanical knowledge to the manufacturing processes. Employee will work under minimal supervision where the primary objective is safe production.
 
  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance on various operating equipment and systems
  • May perform basic machining on heavy industrial equipment
  • Duties include but are not limited to removal, repair and installation of mechanical components and basic to intermediate troubleshooting
  • Must be able to work from manuals, drawings and JSAs with minimal supervision
  • Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned according to business needs

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • At least one (1) year in trade OR a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, welding, plumbing, machine shop, blue prints, schematics, parts lists and equipment
  • Knowledgeable and capable of performing welding and cutting operations on a variety of similar and dissimilar metals including over-head and out-of-position angles
  • Ability to interact effectively with others
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

 

Preferred

 

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience working in an industrial maintenance setting
  • Experience working in an industrial machine shop setting
  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing plant which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see and work in confined spaces
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy to heavy objects (up to sixty-five (65) pounds) during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required on a regular basis, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety foot wear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and other protective equipment as required
