Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Distribution Lead from a background in mining and manufacturing warehousing and transportation to join their team in Gauteng.

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing warehouse and distribution activities to ensure best practices in road and rail transportation are adhered to, resulting in lower cost, minimising risks and reducing lead times.
• Ensure adherence to company’s global shipping guidelines and supporting of regional Supply Chain Strategy.
• Continuous improvement initiatives for safety and operational procedures, productivity and efficiency.
• Ensure service delivery compliance in accordance with client regulations.
• Improving stock visibility and traceability, picking accuracy, losses avoidance, returns and service level fines.
• Contract and relationship management for carriers.
• Implementation of management tools for reporting, analytics and dashboards to manage carriers.
• Budgeting and cost control.
• Identifying distribution team development and training needs and creating a positive environment through clear direction.
• Management of Major Hazards Facilities (MHF) in line with regulations and control performance indicators.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation or similar.
• 10 years previous experience in warehousing, transportation and distribution within the mining and / or manufacturing sectors, with at least 5 years at a senior level.
• Experience defining and implementing product delivery plans for multiple continents with various modes of transport.
• Well-versed in transportation, warehousing and international logistics regulations.
• Air, sea, road and rail freight and distribution experience.
• Experience in lean practices, continuous improvement initiatives and ISO application.
• Strong vendor / supplier / carrier relationship management and negotiation skills.
• Previous experience on SAP applications for transportation and warehousing.
• Budgeting and cost control experience.
• Willing to travel when required.
