Description: 

The purpose of this position is focused on Aviation Program Management and oversight with the autonomy to shift across all facets of the PTFI Aviation enterprise. Manage, direct, control, monitor, support, and coordinate all aspects of aircraft (fixed, rotary, and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS)) and airport operations within applicable safety standards and regulatory requirements. Continually explore opportunities to increase flight safety, operational efficiencies, and increased value of PTFI organic aviation provided by support contractors.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Management and oversight of all facets of aviation and airport operations to ensure all processes and procedures are safe, efficient, and affordable.
  2. Onsite Program Manager for all PTFI-based Aviation programs and initiatives. Develops, implements, and manages program workflow, GANTT, Agile, and other PM processes to ensure safe, efficient, and timely implementation.
  3. Manages all aviation documentation and records IAW applicable standards. Provides site and corporate leadership with daily aviation operational update, as well as weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as required. Responsible for data content, clarity, and archiving.
  4. Manage, control, and oversee all aspects of airport operations to include ground support, maintenance support, fueling operations, ground support equipment, and airport facilities.
  5. Manages and provides oversight for all aviation and airport training programs including pilot and loadmaster certifications and training requirements. Conducts informal audits & spot checks of airfield operations and aviation proficiency for all crewmembers using appropriate checklists. Responsible for program of instruction development/revision, standardization, training record management, and safety.
  6. Coach, teacher, mentor, and advisor for contract Base Managers. Ensures Base Managers are held accountable to uphold and improve PTFI aviation standards and procedures.
  7. Site subject matter expert on Aviation regulatory and safety requirements. Leads the site Aviation Safety Council and interfaces with local authorities to conduct periodic Air Operator and Airport Coordination Meetings.
  8. Leads the site weekly Production Coordination (PC) Meeting to synchronize and coordinate all aviation resources to support mine site requirements. Forecasts and coordinates maintenance windows and oversees aircraft reliability program. Responsible for the optimization of helicopter & UAS resources based on aircraft capability and availability.
  9. Supports AVCO Airfield Manager and Helipad-66 Support Team. Provides oversite to audit schedule for Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Airspace Management processes. Facilitates gap analysis and workflow vis-à-vis AVCO with AirNav as required to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  10. Develops and leads pilot development program through weekly and monthly pilot briefings and tactics, techniques, and procedure refinement sessions. Leads a daily pilot brief that covers mission parameters, weather impacts, airspace deconfliction, personnel movements, and all safety mitigation parameters.
  11. Acts as the on-site company representative and liaison for internal and external stakeholders. Interfaces with company senior leadership at site. Ensures all actions are coordinated, resourced, synchronized, and approved with on-site leadership and FCX Corporate Aviation Team. Responsible for being the champion of all Company Aviation/Airport policies and procedures including FMI Aviation Department guidelines.
  12. Supports the development of on-site Aviation safety strategy to include internal and external audit program, the Baldwin Risk Mitigation Tool, and the Safety Dashboard. Reviews and approves all low-risk mission requirements. Develops suitable control measures to mitigate risk to lowest acceptable level. Primary conduit to secure medium and high-level risk mission approvals through the Freeport Corporate Aviation Department.
  13. Able to conduct initial Aviation and UAS investigations when required.
  14. Additional duties as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with more than twelve (12) years of Aviation experience managing complex and multi-faceted operations in austere environments integrating ground and aviation support to achieve mission success.
  • Holds or has held an active pilot (fixed or rotary) license for greater than ten (10) years with commensurate aviation experience.
  • Robust experience with planning and safely executing all facets of Aviation operations in complex and austere environments including fixed-wing, rotary-wing, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and airfield/airport operations.
  • Formally trained and experienced in Aviation Safety Management Systems and Risk Management procedures.
  • Program/Project Management experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with diverse and multi-cultural teams/environments.
  • Strong direct supervisory experience. Ability to coach, teach, and mentor others.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and program/process improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify root causes and provide effective/innovative solutions.
  • Ability to delegate appropriately and develop subordinates.
  • Ability to confidently represent the company at enterprise/site-specific stakeholder meetings, forums, and engagement opportunities.
  • Ability to operate safely and further department initiatives with minimal guidance.
  • Expert communicator – interpersonal, verbal, written and presentations.
  • Highly adept at evaluating outcomes and impacts of programs on current/planned operations.
  • Proven ability to assess risk and develop appropriate controls to mitigate.
  • Ability to develop strategy and execute plans.

  • Skilled at assessing and developing a long-term perspective.
  • Expert at developing and maintaining relationships and diffusing situations.

  • Proficiency in using appropriate software suites (e.g. MS Office).
  • Fluent in English (oral and written) and willing to learn Bahasa.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate degree in Management, Business, or related field with more than fifteen (15) years of experience.
  • Holds or has held an active pilot (fixed or rotary) license for greater than twelve (12) years with commensurate aviation experience.
  • Possesses an FAA/CAA/DGCA (or commensurate) Part-107 certification for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
  • Experience developing and communicating powerful presentations (complete, clear, and concise).
