The position is under general supervision of the Manager, Ore-Flow Electrical, Instrumentation and Systems Control, performing specialized engineering work associated with the maintenance of computerized process control, data acquisition and/or data transmission for Ore-flow and fix-plant production systems.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs specialized engineering work associated with the maintenance of computerized process control, data acquisition and/or data transmission of Ore-flow crushing and conveying as well as fix facilities.
  • Evaluating various plant processes and operations for control scheme and network optimization and troubleshooting process control and network malfunctions.
  • Maintaining existing control and network strategies and recommending modifications to manager.
  • Maintaining the control and historical databases.
  • Maintaining system hardware, including both preventive maintenance and emergency repair.
  • Assisting in administering system security tasks.
  • Maintaining network infrastructures including routing, switching, encryption, wireless, network management and network security.
  • Maintaining accurate system documentation.
  • Training and instructing, all Control system and HMI users.
  • Coordinates technical work of the Instrumentation Technicians associated with process control and data acquisition in:
    • Performing periodic system backups.
    • Maintaining/calibration and repairing associated field instrumentation.
    • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Act as a mentor/recourse for Ore Flow Process Control Engineers. Influences and improves work process and refines the technical system.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s) would be an advantage.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Control Engineering or closely related engineering field with minimum of five (5) years’ experience -OR – Technical Trade school with a minimum of seven (7) years’ electrical or control engineering experience – OR – High School Diploma with minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in electrical or control engineering in mining operations.
  • Excellent knowledge of process instrumentation, process control techniques, field sensors and controllers, digital control hardware including Programmable Logic Controllers, Relay Ladder Logic, and control software and/or networking hardware/software.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of others as well as being a self-starter, with the ability of adapting to change and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with team members in a diverse team.
  • Must be willing to work for after-hour emergencies requiring on hand response for troubleshooting.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written) and willing to learn Bahasa.
