Manager Social Performance Systems and Engagement Strategy: Phoenix, AZ, US, 85004-2121

Description

This position is primarily responsible for activating key components of the Company’s Global Social Performance practice, including leading the ongoing implementation, updates and evaluation of the Social Performance Management System and its components, strategic stakeholder engagement and issue advocacy, that successfully and significantly contributes to risk reduction and reputational capital of the company and its operations. Position also serves as a member of the department strategy team and key contributor to planning and development for all aspects of the broad, overall Social Performance practice.

  • Social Performance Management System – lead the ongoing implementation of the SPMS, including the identification of gaps or opportunities for improvement both related to the system itself as well as the required Standards of Practice (Governance, Stakeholder Engagement, Social Investment, Social Baseline Studies and Impact Assessment, Indigenous Peoples, Cultural Heritage and Site Social Performance Planning). Engage with global social performance leaders/teams as well leaders of Business Process groups to determine updates needed, opportunities for greater efficiency, and facilitate annual system review. Ensure proper and robust documentation required by the range of responsible production frameworks to which the company subscribes (primarily Copper Mark and ICMM Performance Expectations) and oversee the ongoing implementation of tools that support this documentation (digital stakeholder management tool, etc.).
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Engage with internal and external stakeholders, nonprofit organizations/NGOs, public sector representatives and community leaders to develop and implement best-in-class engagement programs that yield a benefit for both the company and its communities. Benchmark best practices by talking with other leaders in the field and seek opportunities to showcase Freeport programs and practices in this arena. Serve as the stakeholder engagement lead for land and water and remediation projects requiring engagement plans and execution. Anticipate stakeholder related risks, challenges and opportunities related to sensitive topics. Lead all aspects of the company’s formal /standard stakeholder engagement models/forums (such as Community Partnership Panels). Monitor stakeholder and sentiment trends and build engagement efforts to address.
  • Communication and Reporting – Develop and curate social performance content that demonstrates the company’s and operation’s high level of commitment to its communitiesfor use in various internal and external reporting efforts. Work with internal and external communications personnel to develop key messages and materials that engage andincentivize, garner positive visibility and increase awareness among key stakeholders and employees about the company’s commitment to social performance and sustainable development.
  • Internal Business Coordination – Consult with operations and business process groups to anticipate and identify stakeholder engagement needs to ensure risks are avoided or mitigated, and increase the company’s capacity to engage with various types and levels of stakeholders and associated risk issues.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Community/ Sustainable Development, Business Administration/Economics, International Relations, or other social or environmental sciences and seven (7)years direct experience in one or more of the fields listed above; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Social Work, Sociology / SocialScience, Environmental Science, Sustainable (or Economic) Development, Marketing, Business or related field and nine (9) years direct experience in one or more of the fields listed above; OR
  • Associate's degree in Community/ Sustainable Development, Business Administration/
  • Economics, International Relations, or other social or environmental sciences and eleven (11) years direct experience in one or more of the fields listed above; OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and thirteen (13) years direct experience in one or more of the fields listed above
  • Ability to mentor and coach others
  • Strong supervisory experience
  • Ability to build positive relationships with operational management across site as well as SD/Administrative functions
  • Demonstrated willingness to share knowledge with others within team and more broadly
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and program/process improvement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from the Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College OR
  • Other executive education, CSR or SD certifications from an established, accredited
    institution
  • Direct supervisory experience

 

Criteria/Conditions:

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hardhat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as allowed by applicable state laws

  • Site-based positions, or positions which require unescorted access to site-based operational areas, which are held by employees who are required to receive MSHA, OSHA, DOT, HAZWOPER and/or Hazard Recognition Training; or
  • Positions which are held by employees who operate equipment, machinery or motor vehicles in furtherance of performing the essential functions of their job duties, including operating motor vehicles while on Company business or travel (for this purpose "motor vehicles" includes Company owned or leased motor vehicles and personal vehicles used by employees in furtherance of Company business or while on Company travel); or
  • Positions which Freeport-McMoRan has designated as safety sensitive positions in the applicable job or position description and which upon further review continue to be designated as safety-sensitive based on an individualized assessment of the actual duties performed by a specifically identified employee.
