Description
Under general supervision, plans and performs Mining Engineering duties related to development and production at assigned site.
- Develops mining plans based on all available geological information to support short and/or long range planning and production goals
- Monitors mining methods and equipment, with a view to improving performance
- Assists in developing and managing mine ventilation
- Assists in identifying courses of action to improve safety, operational efficiencies, control production costs and protect the environment
- Participates in Engineering feasibility studies to define proper mining methods, equipment selection, mine site facilities, and manpower and production requirements
- Ensures maximum productivity and extraction rates by optimizing mining methods, procedures and equipment
- Recommends courses of action designed to eliminate potential production problems and to improve safety, operational efficiency, control production costs and protect the environment
- Assists in the preparation of detailed ore reserve estimates
- Works with Geologists in exploration and assists in the Engineering phase of developments and operational activities
- Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires international air travel. - Bachelor's degree in Mining or Geological Engineering and three (3) years of related experience in Engineering, OR
- Master's degree in Mining or Geological Engineering and two (2) years of related experience in Engineering
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mining Engineering
- Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
- Skilled in managing Engineering projects
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
- Knowledge of one-plus (1+) Underground Mining method(i.e. competent to explain to others the requirements of the mining method familiar to the incumbent and how it differs generally from other mining methods)
Preferred
- Knowledge of, or work experience in two (2) or more of the following:
- Ventilation
- Mine Planning
- Scheduling
- Ground Support
- Surveying
- Mining Crew Operations

- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Position will require Domestic (throughout the USA) and International travel
- Position is in busy, non-smoking office
- Location requires mobility in an office environment
- Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particle
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

Compensation:
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $84,000 - $116,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
