Job Description

To provide Project and Construction Management expertise for the Operations Support activities across all disciplines including earthworks, levee and road building, logistics and safety projects.Highly capable in safety aspects related to heavy construction and earthworks equipment.Mentoring of National staff within the project team and assistance in managing and planning their ongoing development.Project business case, planning, cost, execution and team implementation for operations support are managed with safety first as the highest priority and performed following project requirements while ensuring full internal team and external engagement to ensure adding value to PTFI business.

Additional responsibilities:

1.Levees Building and Levee Acceleration Projects – monitor progress of earthworks contractor in terms of safety, cost and performance within the overall levee building operations.Capable in trade-off studies between various contracting arrangements in-place on site.Add value in the implementation of construction supervision and management, including survey and measurement, equipment recommendations and performance and productivity.

2.PCON – lead site TRMP team to ensure preparedness for the future PCON infrastructure including ponds and pipelines.Coordinate with various departments to ensure minimization of main supply route interruptions related to pipeline repair an installation and road maintenance as it affects operations, cargo, and bus and logistics requirements.

3.Cargo & Logistics Project – lead implementation and change as needed in these contracted services to improve and ensure safety and operational performance aligned with PTFI and FCX business requirements.Includes managing and ensuring business case buy in by teams for MIS tools implementation (hardware and software).Facilitate team acceptance of change.

4.Levees Planning and Construction: as required, lead projects related to tailings system in the Lowlands area in support of Tailing and Rivers Management Project.

5.Coordinate and interface with Road Maintenance and Fleet Operations to assist planning and implementation of equipment replacement plans, equipment purchase and retirement and value added projects.

6. Assist the Lowlands area in all aspects of PTFI operations scope as needed.

7.Demonstrate at all times “safety first” attitudes while maintaining professional communication and collaboration in difficult conditions.

8.Role dictates unique and specific Project skills and experience is required – Engineering discipline with practical Project Management skill set.

9.Role requires the capacity to understand and drive the growth and development of National team members.

10. Position demands a good understanding and experience of delivering of projects within a brownfield environment.


·         Bachelor’s (S1) Degree in Engineering, with a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a demonstrably senior role in Project Management and Construction with international experience expected.

·         Project Management and Constructions experience and background sufficient to handle and track multiple projects simultaneously.

·         Good understanding and experience of delivering projects within a brownfield environment.

·         Demonstrable experience in earthworks, dam or levee building, geotechnical engineering and field applications of geotechnical work.

·         Senior level project safety experience.

·         Environmental mine and construction management capacity.

·         Display the energy, drive empathy and ability required to foster the growth and development of the National team members.

·         Ability to supervise human resources and provide guidance on personnel management as it relates to AFE generation and management.

·         Budgeting and cost accounting skills.

·         Proven experience-managing contractors.

·         Ability to interpret project plans, schedules and budgets.

·         Strong ability to manage long-term and short-term projects.

·         Proactive and achievement oriented.

·         Focused toward satisfying customer requirements and implementing projects by garnering team input prior to advancing plans.

·         Strong supervisory and leadership skills in a team environment.

·         Strong analytical thinking skills.

·         Ability to work in a culturally diversified workforce.

·         Strong computer skills.

·         Strong English skills, both oral and written.

·         Basic level of the Indonesian language in understanding and oral (preferable but not essential).
