Supervise the preservation activities of all equipment; mechanical, electrical and instrumentation and commissioning materials that are received for construction during life of project and also for insurance and operating spares for start-up. Provide supervision, planning, communications, coordination and input required to achieve all required equipment and material preservation required per the procurement, construction, and commissioning plans for the project.

Location: Donoso  Site: Cobre Panama

Essential tasks of the successful candidate:

  • Establish preservation plans based on procurement and shipping schedules for life of the project construction period to commissioning and handover; pre and post installation
  • Interface with engineering and vendor groups to obtain all preservation data and processes and ensure conformity to these standards
  • Supervise the preservation activities of both repair team and preservation teams and report on these activities
  • Manage the movement of equipment and goods to planned storage areas for preservation implementation plans
  • Material preservation reports and management of data
  • KPI target setting and management of the companies preservation plans and records

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Through personal leadership and setting clear expectations maintain an emphasis on safety, environmental responsibility and operational responsibility
  • Work with Preservation Team and Repair Team coordinators to develop a preservation plan for all incoming and on site construction equipment and materials requiring preservation, including operating and commissioning spares
  • Implement this plan under direction of Logistics and Materials Manager working within department and coordinating with all disciplines required to execute on the preservation of materials
  • Coordinate the overall material preservation program across site
  • Work and coordinate with procurement, logistics, engineering, and vendors to ensure that proper preservation procedures and requirements are put in place to assure that all material related construction schedules are met
  • Manage the preservation team and ensure compliance with storage, preservation and protection requirements of all equipment and spare components; pre and post installation

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • 10 years' experience in construction and mining projects is essential
  • QC inspections skills and well experienced in implementation and supervision of preservation activities of all equipment, instrumentation, mechanical and commissioning materials that are received for construction during life of project and also for insurance and operating spare for start-up
  • Material management background with proven ability to develop processes and procedures including warehousing preferred
  • Ability to lead teams; general labour to technical
  • Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast paced, team-based environment
  • Experience in an EXPAT environment
