Group ICT Projects Lead

Working closely with internal ICT teams and senior business stakeholders, this role encompasses aspects of both project management and business relationship management, including taking detailed client briefs and fully understanding their requirements. The Group ICT Projects Lead must have a technical background and full understanding on how to manage technical projects as well as business projects. The role requires a proven track record of delivering technical and business projects of different magnitudes. The ideal candidate will come from a technical background who has progressed in to a project manager role. This role would be ideal for someone who is looking to move towards setting up project standards across an IT Business Unit of a company and move in to a senior project manager role, PMO Lead

Key Roles / Responsibilities

  • Work directly with senior ICT and business stakeholders
  • Attend site visits and client meetings where required
  • Project budget management
  • Lead, engage and motivate a cross discipline team to success
  • Responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, including supporting all ICT departments, project planning and estimating, cost tracking and reporting and risk and quality management
  • Primary point of contact with the customer on matters relating to the project
  • Understand the scope of each phase of the project and ensure they are delivered within agreed tolerances, escalating issues as soon as they are likely to be outside agreed tolerances
  • Manage the establishment of governance and working processes within your team – using a proven delivery methodology
  • Ensure that all project organisation members understand their roles and responsibilities and are held accountable, this included client members of the project organisation
  • Proactively manage effective communication between all stakeholders; escalate communication issues to the relevant senior management when necessary
  • Lead and manage the production team, working with the design and technical lead to plan and assign work
  • Facilitate work for the ICT team(s) to enable them to deliver project outputs in accordance with project plans, costs & to the customer's expectations
  • Ensure all work is produced in accordance with appropriate processes and that opportunities for improvement are identified and agreed
  • Pro-actively implement and lead risk management for the project organisation
  • Work closely with the senior ICT members of First Quantum Minerals, in particular Group Head of ICT, Group Service Delivery Manager and Group ICT Operations Manager


Competencies and experience required:

  • Experience in technical and client project management
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar role – technical and business project management
  • IT Operational experience and understands technology through previous role(s)
  • Prince 2, Agile or similar project management methodology certified
  • Meticulous planning and attention to detail
  • High self-motivation and the ability to lead by example
  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team
  • Ability to problem solve and to work to deadlines
  • Flexibility and a can do, customer focused attitude
  • Exceptional listening, written and verbal communication skills with polished presentation skills
  • A delivery superstar with a real passion for everything technical and a love of how technology has changed the world and should be part of every business and industry
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring and leading teams with a track record of successful delivery
  • Confident decision maker who is happy to take ownership and be seen as a leader
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office and Microsoft project
