The Technical Operations Engineer’s role is to support all production systems within FQM, both internal systems and customer facing systems. The Engineer will work in a team environment and be responsible for ensuring that production systems are functional and tuned appropriately.

Location: London  Site: London Office

Key areas of responsibility:

  •  Implementation
    • Design, configure, deploy and maintain infrastructure systems including physical hardware, virtualised platforms, and application solutions.
    • Tune hardware and software configurations for optimal performance
    • Perform integrations with customers, vendors, and partners
    • Deploy cloud based solutions as required to meet business needs
  • Monitoring
    • Configure comprehensive monitoring solutions
    • Work closely remote site ICT teams and Group ICT team to provide proactive monitoring, maintenance and remediation solutions
    • Respond to automated notifications of problem events and resolution of those issue
    • Coordinate the repair of server/storage hardware and provide on-call or after-hours support where needed or allocate to remote site ICT team members
    • Own the operations and service desk layer for Group ICT
  • Administration
    • Server administration, including system updates and configuration
    • Responds to incidents to ensure system availability and meet service level objectives. Performs detailed problem troubleshooting, problem resolution, and root cause analysis
    • Fine-tune system to improve performance and functional behaviour
    • Co-ordinate communication to internal and external clients of issues, outages or planned maintenance
  • Troubleshoot
    • Provide top-tier technical support to ICT remote site and junior colleagues to assist in resolving complex technical issues/solutions
    • Actively participate in Tier I, Tier II and Tier III support for production systems
    • Investigate, triage, and resolve issues with development, QA, UAT, staging, and production system virtual machines and physical servers
  • Collaboration
    • Work with remote site ICT team to guide them on service and operational standards of support.
    • Work with remote site ICT team and act as the infrastructure escalation point for the remote site ICT personnel
    • Interact with and support the FQM UK office stakeholders with desktop support requirements when needed
    • Share skills, knowledge, and expertise with the entire FQM ICT team
    • Work closely with the rest of the FQM ICT teams on technical and business projects


Qualifications & Experience:


  • Min of 3+ years of industry IT experience
  • Computer Science or related undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • Microsoft certifications a plus

 Specific skills, knowledge and competencies:

  • Analytical, troubleshooting, and research skills with performance issues in production and development environment
    Interpersonal skills
  • Installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining the Microsoft solution stack including Active Directory, Windows Server, System Centre, SCOM, IIS, SQL, Exchange, etc.
  • Experience designing, building, and working on desktop and server class hardware configurations
  • Tuning of server hardware and software to maximize application performance
  • Experience with building, monitoring, and maintaining storage solutions
  • Knowledge of network computing, information system security, DNS, software licensing, IT best practices, capacity planning, etc.
  • Good communication skills with different stakeholder levels
