Rock Engineering(Open Pit / Chamber Of Mines / Safety) – South Africa

Job Description:  
Are you a Rock Engineer with a Chamber of Mines Rock Engineering Certificate and experience with open pit mining?
This could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Our client is actively seeking an enthusiastic individual to provide a Rock Engineering service to the mine that will contribute towards the safe and sustainable extraction of the ore reserve.
 
 
Responsibilities:

  • Work with the team in developing  a successful Mining design through the application of Rock Engineering principles and assessments in a dynamic stress regime
  • Providing technical assistance to the existing mining sections by analysing information from various sources (Rock engineering predictive software, etc.)
  • Ensure the calibration of various ground control models (map 3D) with physical measurements, in order to provide integrated solutions for technical mining challenges (various massive mining methods)
  • Design and assist in implementing systems, procedures and techniques that will reduce or eliminate Rock fall hazards

  
Requirements / Qualifications:

  • A tertiary qualification in the Mining Engineering or Geosciences field
  • A Chamber of Mines Certificate in Rock Mechanics or working towards it
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant Open Pit mining experience
  • A valid Certificate of Fitness or the ability to obtain one

Contractual Information:

  • Salary will be market related.
