Job Description

The Mobile Maintenance Supervisor/Trainer Mechanical is accountable to the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent for the safe, efficient, accurate and cost effective mechanical maintenance of the mobile equipment fleet at Kinross Gold – Tasiast Mine. The incumbent will provide leadership, development, and direction to his subordinate staff that the business objectives of the Company are consistently achieved through the efficient management of the operation.

Job Responsibilities

- Ensure all maintenance tasks performed are within the compliance of Kinross safe operating procedures, standard job guidelines and if not, a comprehensive job safety analysis is performed.
- To monitor the performance of all the maintenance personnel in the shop and field, to execute and supervise of all the maintenance repairs planned, and unplanned.
- Provide the required reports as requested by your supervisor.
- Train the maintenance personnel under your supervision to provide a safe, efficient and effective work place.
- Participate in the technical and performance evaluation of their subordinates, and provide constructive feedback to improve their competency.
- Assist in the development of work procedures, Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s), systems and standards that will comply with occupational health and workplace standards to meet Company and national guidelines, policies, and legislation.
- Assist in the development of equipment parts lists, consumable lists, stock levels of parts and consumables.
- Assist in the tool requirements of the maintenance personnel, tool store and any special tools that may be required. 

Education and Experience

- Trade Certificate equivalent to a minimum of 5 years in an apprenticeship program for a Heavy Equipment Fitter or Mechanic.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience working in Heavy Equipment or Open Cut Mining.
- Preferably 5 years minimum supervision or lead hand experience.
- French language an asset.
- Computer skills: MS Word, MS Excel, CAT SIS, Komatsu KOMTRAX, JD Edwards, SOS.
- Expatriate experience preferred.

Preferred Equipment Experience 

- Caterpillar Experience: Shovels/Excavators: 6060, Haul Trucks: 793 and 773, Track Dozers: D11, D10 and D9, Wheel Loaders: 994 and 988, Wheel Dozers: 854 and 834, Motor Graders: 24M and 16M.
- Komatsu Experience: Haul Trucks: HD785, HD465, Excavator: PC1250-7.
- Hammer Drill: Bucyrus SKFX, Tamrock Pantera Dpi1500, Sandvik DR580, and Atlas Copco PV235.
- Diagnostic Experience: CAT ET, VIMS. Komatsu: Electronic shift controls.

Skills

• General knowledge of mining and the integration of the mining, milling, and maintenance functions
• Good understanding of gold metallurgy
• Good working knowledge and skills with a PC utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs
• Detailed knowledge of established mining methods and operating practices
