African Mining Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ausdrill Limited, provides contract surface mining and mineral exploration drilling to the mining sector in West Africa.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced HSE Professional who seeks the challenge of working in an international assignment in Senegal.

Primarily, your role will be to participate in all HSE and Safety Training initiatives that are ongoing at the site level and report directly to the Project Manager.
You will contribute to the development of the company’s ‘Work Safe’ culture by leading by example with all HSE matters and ensuring all training competencies and compliances meet our obligations at our newly developed project.

The ideal candidate will possess (at a minimum):

• Tertiary Qualification in a HSE discipline-a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety would be highly regarded
• Minimum of 5 years working experience in a similar Safety Role
• Valid International Driver’s license with a minimum ‘C’ Class driver’s license
• Fluent command of French language, both written and oral
• Knowledge of safety training and the delivery of operational skills
• Experience and qualifications to investigate incidents/accidents as required
• Knowledge of and ability to implement OSHAS 18001 and ISO 14001 requirements
• Experience in working in Africa
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Provide workplace HSE support to all AMS employees, visitors and sub-contractors
• Report and advise on HSE matters to key management personnel
• Train and mentor HSE subordinates and representatives
• Review of current HSE documentation and training packages and submit proposed changes where required
• Develop, review and participate in Risk Assessments
• Conduct system and compliance audits to measure performance against legislative, client and AMS standards
• Supervising, training and mentoring of a National Workforce

The ability to adapt to a developing country environment and willingness to travel is essential.
