Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in Nevada. It is the newest mine in Kinross’ portfolio and was acquired in January 2016.

Job Description

Supervise and instruct the heap leach crew to perform in a cost effective, safe, productive manner while protecting the environment and enhancing morale of others.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain close working relationship with mine operations and engineering departments on timeing of ore deliveries, ripping requirements, reject placement, piping activities, ect.
  • Manage and evaluate the job performance of the Heap Leach personnel concerning safety, production, operator training, and development
  • Review performance evalutations, recommend promotions, and carry out disciplinary actions, in conjunction with the Human Resources Department as needed
  • Investigate, analyze, and supervise the documentation of accidents, injuries, and equipment damage
  • Work with purchasing and warehouse to ensure constant availability of heap leach parts, tools, equipment, and consumables
  • Monitor records concerning all facets of heap leach operations including safety meetings, attendance, training, vacations, scheduling, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and accidents,
  • Punctuality and regular attendance required
  • Montior work areas on an ongoing basis to assure safe and cost efficient maintenance goals
  • Maintenance of daily log of work assignments and accomplishments
  • Prevent needless expenditures and lost production by minimizing equipment downtime through properly excuted prevantative maintenace repairs.
  • Compliance with all compnay policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management
  • Possession of a valid drivers license issed by the state is required
  • Work without significant risk or harm to self and others
  • Maintain accurate records and files
  • Consistent exercise of discretion and judgement in job performance

Education and Experience

  1. A minimum of 5 years experience repairing and maintaining industrial equipment
  2. Necessary technical ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems pertaining to heap leach
  3. Previous crew mechanic experience
  4. Strong working knowledge of ore processiong operations
  5. Good working knowledge and skills with a P.C utilizing word processiong and spreadsheet program
  6. Demonstarted ability to lead, teach, and coach other employees
  7. Ability to work independently and also as a memeber of the management team
  8. Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
