The Drilling Supervisor will support and manage all drill activities at the site, managing a group of around 40 people. The role reports into the Mine Pit Superintendent
The Guelb Moghrein copper-gold operation is 100% owned by Mauritanian Copper Mines (MCM), a First Quantum subsidiary. The mine is located 250 kilometres northeast of the nation's capital, Nouakchott, near the town of Akjoujt.
Ensure that Safety Protocols and Operating Procedures are followed and that all Safety, Health and Environmental Statutory Requirements are met.
Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all drill activities.
Comply with established methodologies and quality standards related to the drill function, while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches.
Answer queries and handle requests related to the drill function which includes problem solving and judgement.
Mentor and train less experienced employees on operating standards, procedures and methods.Provide complex technical support for drill activities, following established policies, practices and procedures when completing work assignments.
Liaise with mobile maintenance department to develop preventative maintenance schedules and ensure sufficient stock of consumables to maintain high equipment operating availability.

Ensure a safe drilling and charging operation
Supervision of blast hole drilling (MCM and contractors)
Organizing timely drill field cleaning and preparation hand in hand with production foreman
Documentation of Drill and Blast results
Communication between planners, drillers and blasting contractors;
any other jobs required and communicated by the supervisor
Required Technical Skills, Training & Experience
Qualification in drill and blast techniques or related field.
Minimum of 8 years of related work experience, ideally in large open pit operations, preferably hard rock.
Minimum of two years' experience in a supervisory role with ability to delegate and motivate the team towards achieving production targets.
Good written and oral communication skills in English; French and/or Arabic would be highly considered.
Ability to achieve result is a cross cultural environment.<
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
Self-motivated with trainer coaching skills towards our national workforce.
