Teranga Gold is a multi-jurisdictional West African gold company focused on production and development as well as the exploration of more than 5,000km2 of land located on prospective gold belts. Teranga operates the only gold mine and mill in Senegal, West Africa.  Gold production is expected to average about 200,000 ounces annually at all-in sustaining costs in the lowest (best) quartile of industry costs allowing the Company to generate strong free cash flows. Beyond the Company’s mine plan are significant opportunities for organic growth through further exploration in Senegal and Burkina Faso in West Africa. 

This is an expat FIFO role: 8 weeks on/ 4 weeks off with travel on company time with every 2nd Sunday off.

The Senior Mechanical Supervisor reports into the Mechanical Superintendent and is responsible to optimize the mechanical availability of fixed plant installations of the Processing Department and associated infrastructure as directed by the Process Manager.

·          Plant Maintenance – Effective management of reliability centered maintenance systems and preventative maintenance programs.

·          Maintenance Planning - Ensure all maintenance functions are planned effectively to ensure maximum cost benefit while minimizing the interruption to production.

·          Engineering – Ensure engineering projects are relevant, timely and are compliant with all applicable statutory and corporate regulations.

·          Cost control – Provision of accurate budget forecasts and effective management of departmental expenditure.

·          Resource Management – Provide systems to ensure effective utilization of all available resources. These would include but not be limited to tools and equipment, mobile equipment, all relevant company employees, contractors and consultants.

·          Continuous Improvement – Implement a program and maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the processing maintenance department.

·          Staff Development – Ensure the provision of effective and structured training and development of all mechanical maintenance staff and provide input into departmental succession planning.

·          Communication - Maintain effective communication between the maintenance and all internal and external stakeholders.

·          Assume back to back responsibilities for and act as the Mechanical Superintendent when required.


Required Skills and Experience

·          10 years relevant professional work experience in maintenance of fixed plant equipment.

·          Possess a minimum of four years prior supervisory experience.

·          Knowledge of training, supervisory techniques, employee policies and procedures.

·          Prior supervisory exposure and experience within West Africa or Expat Roles

·          Possess a formal Trade qualification.

·          Prior experience required in the use of CMMS.

·          Prior experience on all facets of Gold Plant Maintenance.

All successful applicants must pass a medical due to the remote location of the operations.
