We are currently looking to recruit a highly experienced Chief Metallurgist to provide technical guidance and support to the technical and processing teams at our Ravensthorpe Nickel Operations.

We are searching for an experienced metallurgist who understands Nickel processing. In this role the successful incumbent will be required to provide technical guidance and support, whilst developing the Process Engineering team to monitor and improve plant conditions and equipment.

Key Accountabilities

  • Leading the continual improvement process while maintaining a stable process
  • Setting up systems to ensure daily monitoring of plant conditions and reporting of plant information to the Process Manager and Superintendents is carried out
  • Identify opportunities for R&D Development and subsequent rebates
  • Manage production planning and reagent consumption
  • Ensure the area philosophy is in line with corporate direction (eg. the FQM way) and site strategies, policies and procedures
  • Development of area operating budgets and subsequent control, management and reporting of costs against these budgets
  • Performance management of team members
  • Ensure systems and procedures are implemented to direct, assess and control the process performance
  • Ensure objectives, targets and standards are established and effectively communicated to metallurgical and operational personnel
  • Ensure effective communication is maintained between all process stakeholders
  • Implementation of process control strategies necessary for optimization of plant processes to meet or exceed targets
  • Provide input to development, execution and completion of projects which will play a major role in the successes of the metallurgical group

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a Chief Metallurgists role
  • Specific experience in a chemical or extractive metallurgical plant
  • Process Engineering qualifications (Chemical/Process Engineering, Metallurgy)

The position is residential on a 5/2 rotation from Esperance/Ravensthorpe/Hopetoun. Subsidised company accommodation will be provided and relocation package will be offered if the successful candidates decides to relocate to Hopetoun/Ravensthorpe.
