Job Description

Reporting to the Controller, primarily supports the GM and HODs at site by providing timely and accurate information related to the AFE process, and actual, committed and forecasted capital spending.  This role also is responsible for proper application of IFRS and PCM guidance as it relates to the proper accounting for capital assets and related depreciation.  This role also interacts with Regional FP&A as it relates to capital budgets and forecasts. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains fixed asset registers in PCM GAAP, IFRS post-impaired and IFRS pre-impaired
  • Prepares monthly depreciation and analyzes changes in depreciation expense from prior month.
  • Prepares monthly job cost allocations to clear projects to construction in process. Prepares month-end journal entries including capitalized stripping, freight costs and other support as required.
  • Performs monthly fixed asset reconciliation, using JDE integrity reports, & preparation of roll-forward for KARS continuity input.
  • Records fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system.
  • Closes out and capitalizes projects that have been completed including preparation of required forms and obtaining all required signatures.
  • Ensures assets are set up in JDE with the required level of componentization under IFRS
  • Coordinates annual fixed asset verification exercise.
  • Coordinates annual depreciation review.
  • Performs physical inventory verification with pictures added to the asset master record and ensuring assets are in good condition and appropriately tagged.
  • Provides support for interim and annual internal and external audits.
  • Performs periodic impairment reviews.
  • Performs ad hoc reporting and special projects as required.

Education and Experience

  • Master degree in financial analysis
  • 5 -7 years’ accounting experience, 1-2 years in a similar role.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong SQL and analytical and problem solving skills; 
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills;
  • Experience with integrated ERP systems.
