Based in Mauritania, Kinross Tasiast is set to become one of the great gold finds of our generation. It is the first mine in a highly prospective greenstone belt, located within an extensive gold system that is largely underexplored.

Purpose of Role

Reporting to the Account Payable Supervisor, this role will be responsible for the accounts payables processes and related communications with vendors and employees.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties 

  • To make timely and accurate payments to vendors and reimbursements to employees while maintaining proper records of payments.
  • Perform invoice (3-way) matching in order to ensure that all invoices are matched to their related purchase order and receiving document or service order and approved invoice. Ensure that other source data supporting the payments are adequate.
  • Responsible for tax compliance as it relates to vendor invoicing, including, but not limited to, rejecting invoices that don’t meet proper invoice format (addresses, NIE numbers, withholdings, etc.).
  • Establish and maintain good vendor relation in order to promote proper vendor service levels.
  • Prepare vendor billing statement reconciliations in order to support validity and completeness throughout all vendor payments.
  • Complete invoice filing/scanning on a timely basis in order to maintain adequate organization of payments and payment history.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate recording or invoices (This may include recording journal entries into the general ledger).
  • Support the invoice tracking/approvals system.
  • May need to reject invoices, resend purchase orders for rework, request additional data from vendors or internal customers while maintain proper levels of professionalism.
  • Investigate historical payments and interact with vendors, internal customers and peers in high stress situations.
  • Follow established policies and procedures related to accounts payable and complies with established methodologies and quality standards.
  • Ensures records are up to date, in the required format, accurate and produced on time.

Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements 

  • 2 – 3 years of related experience.
  • Basic accounting skills and a working knowledge of accounting systems are also a plus.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
  • Must have basic typing and math skills.
  • They must have strong communication skills, including verbal, written, email and phone.
  • Ability to adequately communicate in English, both oral and written. French will be a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Meticulous and systematic in their work.
  • Pleasant and courteous in interpersonal interactions.
  • The ability to adequately communicate in French, both oral and in written is a plus.
