Responsibilities:

*
* Assures compliance with the MPSA Environmental permits and existing Panamanian environmental regulations.
* Provides accurate, cost-effective and timely technical and regulatory compliance support to plant.
* Establishes and maintains program to ensure that operating permits are in order for all sources of air and water emissions.
* Provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
* Coordinates Power Plant environmental audits, analyze results and develop actions plans.
* Develops, implements, maintains, and assures quality of Power Plant Environmental Plans (air, water, waste, noise and vibrations, waste land and chemical management).
* Recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment, to minimize the environmental hazard potential.
* Facilitates environmental incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
* Trains and oversees all personnel involved in environmental emergency procedures.
* Maintains Environmental databases and documents.

Qualifications and Personal Characteristics:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical or sciences field (such as chemistry, physics, environmental management, etc.)
* Seven (7) or more years or experience in a Power Plant, Chemical or Manufacturing environmental role.
* Experience with Panamanian environmental laws and regulations relating to air, water, solid waste and hazardous waste management.
* Experience with EPA regulations with an ability to interpret and explain in a manner that is easily understood and applicable to operations personnel.
* Experience with Environmental Management Systems (i.e. ISO 14001).
* Experience with the audit processes, root cause analysis, risk awareness, incentives, and driving employee accountability.
* Experience with incident investigations.
* Behavioral Based observations experience.
* Ability to lead, influence, motivate and manage change.
* Fluent written and spoken Spanish - English language skills are advantageous.
* Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) for analyzing, monitoring, reporting and presentations.
