Job Description

Primarily responsible for characterizing physical and chemical rock properties for geology, resource modelling, and geometallurgy based on integration of geochemical and geological data. The role supports not only existing operations but also any projects, including due diligence activities, which can benefit from geochemical characterization.  In summary, the role is to provide the technical services, exploration, and operations groups with thorough understanding of mineralization characteristics through industry leading data analysis techniques based on geochemical and geological data sets.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensure continued growth and support to the geology, resource modelling, and geometallurgy functions with respect to geochemical data acquisition, analysis and application

• Provide technical guidance to operations, exploration projects, and corporate development activities

• Developing analytical and statistical methods to support the resource modelling & geometallurgical domaining

• Resolve and advise on unique, non-routine, or escalated problems of high complexity, and provide innovative analysis and potential solutions

• Act as a technical services expert with respect to geochemistry

• Provide a link between the technical services group and exploration group and metallurgical group

• Liaise between commercial laboratories and site/projects groups to ensure consistency and quality of data provided

Education and Experience


• University degree in related discipline (Geology and/or Geochemistry)

• Minimum of 4 years of additional specialized education in Geochemistry

• Formal professional or technical registration in appropriate area of expertise


• Generally more than 10 years of related work experience or equivalent

• Sound understanding of area of expertise

• Previous experience in the mining/resource industry is preferred


• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills

• Strong organizational and planning skills

• Able to exercise independent judgment and problem-solving

• Strong communication skills
