The Kinross Corporate Head Office is located in downtown Toronto and supports Kinross operations and projects worldwide. Corporate functions include Finance, Procurement, Health & Safety, Human Resources, IT and Investor Relations.

Job Description

To perform routine internal accounting processes following established policies, practices, and procedures. To contribute to the design and development of processes, practices, and methodologies in accounting.

Job Responsibilities

  1. To coordinate activities related to internal accounting processes
    1. Records daily, monthly, and quarterly transactions and ensures complete documentation.
    2. Maintains accounting records of KGC subsidiaries which includes financial transactions, bank reconciliations, monetary revaluation, financial statements, and account analysis and reconciliations.
    3. Understands the implications of intercompany transactions on the financial and operational reporting of the intercompany partners involved.
    4. Reconciles intercompany balances and transactions between groups of Kinross companies.
    5. Applies billing rules, based on contracts to external and intercompany transactions, and provides summaries and clear communications on those groups of transactions.
    6. Timely preparation and filing of various tax returns such as HST.
    7. Coordinates with external service providers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of agreed to services and work product.
    8. Provides support in the audit process by proper recording and documentation of financial transactions.
    9. Assists internal and external auditors in periodic SOX testing. Prepares documents and compiles information as requested.
    10. Responds to a variety of internal and external requests regarding accounting information.
    11. Prepares communication materials, manuals, and other materials related to accounting issues, processes, or systems.
    12. Researches information to support decision making and improve processes, technologies, or methodologies.
    13. Actively seeks mentorship and learning to improve technical knowledge and skills.
    14. Uses JDE Enterprise One ERP system and Kinross consolidation system to perform duties.
    15. Other duties as required.
  2. To perform controls related to Accounts Payable
    1. Validates accuracy of vendor invoices and account coding to accounting system records.
    2. Validates accuracy of cheque, wire, EFT, ACH payments to accounting system records

Education and Experience

Education

  • University degree in a Business program


Experience
• 1 - 3 years of related work experience or equivalent
• Completed or actively pursuing completion of recognized accounting designation.

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good initiative and self motivation; works well with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and meet deadlines.
  • Previous experience with multi-entity accounting environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft desktop software and accounting applications, preferably JDE EnterpriseOne.
