Job Description

Reporting to the Tasiast Finance Manager, responsible for the reliability and the quality of the financial information provided to Corporate Headquarters for inclusion in the Kinross consolidated financial statements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly standard journal entries relating to prepaid expenses, gold sales, business tax, royalties and month-end accruals.
  • Prepares detailed royalty calculations and initiates payment on a quarterly basis.
  • Runs month-end routines in JDE for ASV valuation, foreign currency revaluation and benefits allocations.
  • Analyzes differences between actual, budget and forecast.
  • Prepares monthly back charge entries for camp, People Mobility, power, water and guesthouse, ensures that the allocation base and methodology is reasonable.
  • Provides accounting analysis for Processing and Site Services.  Attends cost review meetings to review and explain results and assist with calculation of end accruals.
  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Ensures intercompany transactions are recorded on a timely basis and are reconciled with the intercompany partner.
  • Provides effective support to the external, internal and Government auditors.
  • Responsible for all Tasiast information in the KARS consolidation system including journals and continuity schedules.
  • Develop and maintain internal control environment and contribute to SOX narratives.
  • Prepares periodic statutory reports for DGI, BCM etc. and ensures accounting systems support requirements.
  • Prepares AR invoices in JDE for intercompany exploration re-charges, fuel charges and other miscellaneous items.
  • Provides JDE end user support for the Finance Department.
  • Monitors implementing the 2017 PCM accounting changes including benefits, freight, account 72 for CIP, stock variation and overheads.
  • Develop a detailed reconciliation between PCM and IFRS balance sheets.
  • Ad hoc reporting as required

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting - accounting designation is preferred.
  • Five years’ experience in a similar role or from audit.

Experience with integrated ERP systems


  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong English language skills.
  • Strong computer skill with related software.
  • Work experience in extractive industries, preferably mining.
