The primary role for this position is to coordinate with other PTFI divisions and Contractors to review development designs and schedules and to provide assistance as required.  Other duties include maintaining an integrated schedule in Primavera P6 for the GBC capital expansion project that will show the critical path for the two projects.  These schedules tie directly to the Hard Dollar Cost Models from which monthly status reports will be generated to provide to Sr. Management down to the persons working in the field the status of the project in terms of cost and schedule.

In addition to scheduling, the position will assist the Phoenix Strategic Planning team with mine planning and designs.

  • Coordinate development and construction schedules provided by the various groups (CSE / Underground Construction / Underground planners / NOLA / Consultants) into the integrated schedules; this includes QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) of the data provided by others
  • Coordinate with schedulers at PTFI / NOLA / and with various consultants to insure that all schedules are prepared using the standardized templates and methodologies; this includes QA/QC
  • Analyze development, construction, and production schedules and prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliation reports
  • Assist with Phoenix based Mine Planning group to develop and or optimize underground mine development and production plans
  • Assist with Project Controls tracking and reporting
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to front-line and/or technical employees
  • Travel to Indonesia to work closely with schedulers, two (2) to three (3) times per year, to insure that the standards are being followed and to train new personnel, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining or Geological Engineering and five (5) years of related experience in Mine Planning and Underground projects or related field, OR
  • Master’s degree in Mining or Geological Engineering and three (3) years of related experience in Mine Planning and Underground projects or related field
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of scheduling and project controls
  • Experience in underground mine development and construction projects
  • Proficient in scheduling software (Deswik and or Primavera)
  • Proficient in mine design software (Mine2-4D)
  • Analytical thinker that is able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw timely and valid conclusions
  • Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be comfortable working in a “Team” environment



  • Experience with cost estimating
  • Project Management and Controls experience and or formal training
  • Understanding of Earned Value
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally 
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator
  • Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
