Provide in-house geophysical services worldwide in close collaboration with Geologists, at all stages of exploration. Function as a technical authority and an internal geophysical consultant to plan, conduct, budget and review all aspects of geophysical work. Key function is to work with Geologists to make integrated geophysical and geological interpretations that aid in developing drill targets for exploration.

  • Integrate geophysical work and results with all other exploration data
    • Produce integrated reports with geophysical results on section and plan shown as potentially indicating specific rock types, structures, mineralization and alteration
  • Collaborate with Geologists to produce geological interpretations of geophysical results
    • Relate specific geophysical parameters and petrophysical properties to the geology and geochemistry of target areas
  • Closely work with GIS experts in the Exploration Group, and interface geophysical maps/sections/results with geological, geochemical, alteration, drill-hole data
  • Plan, implement, and execute geophysical surveys by contractors, with the objective of obtaining useful results at reasonable costs
    • Provide strong quality control of data, by contract stipulation, reviewing of unprocessed data
    • This will include setting survey parameters; line length, resolution desires, equipment used, noise tolerances, etc.
    • May require initial design of survey with contractors, field inspections while survey is done and assessment of data quality in initial stage of survey
  • Run 2D and 3D geophysical data processing and modeling software (Oasis Montaj, Geosoft, Mapinfo, ArcGIS); this would include 3D modeling via Geosoft Cloud for VMI, gravity, and IP
  • Stay up-to-date on new geophysical methods, technologies and provide reports on any new technology and potential applications for our exploration program that will provide significant improvement of existing methods
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Geophysics or related scientific field and fifteen (15) years of experience in Geophysics or related scientific field, including airborne, ground, and borehole methods as follows (in order of priority):
    • Induced polarization, including vector IP and any kind of downhole IP using tomography, mise a la masse or downhole radial
    • Magnetics (airborne and ground), including MVIA, SOM processing methods
    • EM methods, including ZTEM, VTEM
    • Radio metrics
    • CSAMT, NSAMT and MT
    • Gravity, seismics
    • Other methods useful in porphyry copper exploration, for instance SP
  • Native speaker of English, plus one more foreign language
  • Ability to run software that is standard for processing geophysical data, also Oasis Montag, Geosoft, Mapinfo (and/or ArcGIS); this would include 3D modeling via Geosoft Cloud for VMI, gravity and IP



  • A degree in Geology (BS or MS) and/or demonstrated strong fundamental understanding of Geology
  • >10 years porphyry copper experience (if not, willingness and ability to learn fast)
  • Ability to speak Spanish or French


  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Spend an aggregate of 3-4 months traveling each year - individual trips can be 2-3 weeks at a time in remote locations
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
