(Position is based at the mine site near the town of Fungurume)
Provide leadership and mentor internal team members on Supply Chain procedures, challenges, and opportunities. Create supplier contracts in a timely manner that succinctly communicates product specification or service requirements. Ensure compliance with procedures and limit company exposure.
  • Eliminate or reduce Company liability by ensuring compliance to Global Supply Chain, safety, and operational policies, contractual requirements, and governmental regulations
  • Maintain competitive pricing with emphasis on cost reductions, quality, and supplier delivery performance through competitive bid events, negotiated price, terms and conditions
  • Ensures and upholds the requirements of good governance with the members of the site team and takes early actions to correct any deviations from good governance practices
  • Create value with timely, accurate, and cost effective contractual agreements
  • Maintains a good working relationship with Construction, Engineering, Project Controls, Procurement, Legal, Project Management and Risk Management to facilitate organizational interfaces to support contract administration
  • Champion local supplier development in a challenging environment to achieve specific safety and business objectives that meet cost, quality, and delivery requirements
  • Provide leadership and mentor Company team members on Global Supply Chain procedures and practices
  • Maintain synchronization of a Supply Chain between various internal organizations and suppliers by ensuring information integration in an accurate and timely manner
  • Responsible for adherence to all contract provisions, including but not limited to safety, compliance, governmental regulations; and ensures implementation of all requirements in compliance with contract terms and conditions
  • Monitor procurement and cash flow processes to ensure timely payment of invoices
  • Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related field and five (5) years of experience in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Purchasing, Engineering or a related field
  • Previous experience with SAP a must
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with Ariba a plus
  • Previous experience in mining strongly preferred, preferably in a remote location
  • Knowledge of French language helpful
Criteria/Conditions
  • Position involves work to be predominantly executed in rural areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Resources can be limited, so the candidate must be a self-starter, have good personal organization skills for managing activities across multiple sites and in challenging circumstances
  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
