Job Description

The Learning and Development Manager is charged with shaping the organizational learning strategy, overseeing its implementation, and assessing its outcomes.

The Learning and Development Manager will actively work with champions from across all Kinross organizational groups and mine sites to enable cross-functional and global collaboration and a holistic learning and development approach.

Job Responsibilities

Learning & Development Strategy

  • Coordinate with Director of Talent Management Leadership and Learning to work with the Kinross Learning and Development Steering Committee to develop an integrated learning strategy for all areas represented on the steering committee.
  • Partner with the Kinross Global Enablement Network members and global champions to identify, plan, and execute targeted L&D initiatives.
  • Ensure the L&D efforts in Kinross reflect the L&D strategy from the Kinross Global Enablement Network.

Learning & Development Operations

  • Design Learning and Development programs as identified in the strategy and manage the global roll out for each.
  • Manage the portfolio of learning investments that serve common L&D needs across Kinross.
  • Consult on learning platform strategy as well as future technologies for learning, development and performance support within the organization.
  • Establish a framework to enable the creation and ongoing management for the individual performer learning paths for critical roles.

Learning & Development Business Impact

  • Work with the Steering Committee and regional L&D thought leaders to develop a balanced scorecard for L&D aligned to the Kinross overall four-point plan (4PP).
  • Ensure impact, relevance, and accountability for all L&D investments.

Learning & Development Enablement

  • Build internal and external alliances to help drive a learning and development culture at Kinross.
  • Promote the Kinross L&D Global Enablement Network brand across the organization.
  • Provide learning insight and expertise for local learning journey strategies.
  • Manage the Learning Center of Excellence budget responsibility.
  • Connect with business partners and remain current with L&D trends to identify effective toolkits and processes

Education and Experience

  • Generally more than 8 years of related work experience or equivalent
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making capabilities with effective organizational and time management skills; the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and process management skills with the ability to recognize interdepartmental relationships and dependencies and implement L&D  activity in support of cross-functional policy and procedures
  • Excellent listening skills and expertise in group facilitation along with strong leadership, analytical and mentoring skills
  • Experience in management development and soft skills training
  • Experience in designing and delivering a variety of training solutions
  • Experience in partnering with third parties
  • Budget management experience
  • People management experience
  • A strong communicator, both in written and spoken communications
  • Articulate and confident standing up and delivering to large audiences
  • Organized, a self-starter and an inspirational team leader
