Support related parties by monitoring, reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing assigned machinery and equipment repair and maintenance in the Mine Maintenance Department; Provide broad and deep recommendations for all relevant maintenance activities (i.e. rationalization, trials, modification, etc.), to ensure the availability of equipment as per operation requirements, so that company targets (safety, production and cost effectiveness) can be met.
Additional responsibilities:
1. Conduct and review daily physical inspection, monitoring and controlling of equipment and machines used for operation, to ensure safety procedures are carried out.
2. Conduct and review daily services and organizing backlogs for machinery repair/maintenance and spare parts, to ensure machinery availability for operations and production department requirements.
3. Conduct, review and analyze a fault diagnostic for all repairs and maintenance and develop systems, improvement, and/or process on predictive maintenance program, aligning it with On the Job Training in order to provide a proper and continuous handling of machinery problems, as well as to ensure application of preventive maintenance.
4. Provide technical instructional support to national staff & non-staff for relevant maintenance activities, providing guidance to ensure all works comply with international standards, are completed in safe manner, within budget, and on schedule.
5. Perform daily reporting of assigned equipment repair and maintenance activities to ensure that status of equipment is up to date, and that the backlog of equipment repairs/maintenance is not delayed.
6. Review and analyze weekly maintenance plan, (i.e., schedules, machinery usage and repairs, and maintenance backlogs and manning issues), in order to ensure that proper maintenance is carried out.
7. Plan, perform and control a monthly machinery review including reviews of safety and machinery availability to reach targets.
8. Review special project progress (i.e., shop safety improvement project, ten major problem recommendation project, etc.) in order to ensure the achievement of projects' objectives according to company's policies and procedures.
9. Train, develop, coach, and motivate mechanics to an acceptable high standard to enhance their skill, knowledge, and capability and develop written program to transfer knowledge and technology to national employee to improve the national employee's capabilities.
10. Present professional advice/recommendation in leadership and/or supervisory role (i.e., manpower management, work arrangement, job assignment) in order to promote supervisory skill of national staff.
11. Guide, monitor and control the implementation of safety standards and procedures within work area to minimize accident and damage.
  1.  Ability to implement and control continuous improvements with assigned equipment and perform OJT (On The Job Training) for Maintenance crews to ensure the enhancement knowledge and skill quality of the crews, in order to provide all equipment repaired correctly and safely in conjunction with company's policies and procedures, and comply with company's policies and procedures and company's goals and objectives.
  2.  Ability to change improper work practices, (i.e.identifying incorrect use of tools and teaching the proper methods), including the community usage of special tools.
  3.  Ability to perform a deep analysis of older equipment, which may have been active more than eight years in average service.
  4.  Ability to implement correct diagnostic procedures for any assigned equipment breakdowns.
  5.  Ability to teach and communicate, particularly those subjects related to culture and language.
  6.  Ability to establish preventive maintenance instead of corrective maintenance.
  7.  Ability to look after large amount of equipment, including many models and types.
  8.  Ability to keep the assigned equipment running up to 89.5% availability.
  9.  Ability to keep the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) up to 20 hours.
  10.  Ability to keep the variance of budget under 5%.
  11.  Design out maintenance that involves modification decisions to manufacturer’s design if needed based on continuous faults.
  12.  Various workload decisions, (i.e. prioritizing workload whether to repair or to backlog, whether to rebuild or replace, etc).
  13.  Responsible for on the job safety of maintenance personnel and machinery repairs and maintenance. Misconduct will result in injury and machinery damage that will in turn cause down time.
  14.  Responsible for applying the correct method of fault diagnostics. Misconduct will result in high maintenance cost.
  15.  Responsible for the day-to-day running of the Mine Maintenance workshop. Misconduct will result in low equipment performance.


  • Trade Certificate or equivalent in mining/mechanical/electrical/structural/politech background, with ten (10) years of experience on a wide range of assigned equipment. 
  • Training/teaching capability.
  • Computer literacy for diagnostic purposes.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance system.
  • Sound analytical and synthesis skills, including problem analysis, cost and financial analysis
  • Sound decision-making skills.
  • Other PTFI mandatory competencies.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diversified workforce.
  • Strong English skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • High level communication and presentation skills.
 Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic level of the Indonesian language in understanding and oral (preferable but not essential).
