MINE ENGINEERING SUPERINTENDENT – WEST AFRICA

African Mining Services (AMS) is one of the largest Contract Mining Companies in Africa with established support networks in Africa, Australia and Europe. AMS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ausdrill Limited, a publicly listed Australian Company (ASX: ASL).

We are seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced Mine Engineering Superintendents to join our team in West Africa.  We seek a self-motivated person with the ability to lead the delivery of technical support, build relationships across the business and continue to develop skills and knowledge in National personnel.

As the Mine Engineering Superintendent you will report directly to the Project Manager and will ensure that Projects remain in compliance with the contract by providing technical advice in line with the AMS quality policy.

Your primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

·         Coach and mentor the mining engineers and technical on their role requirements to the project

·         Liaise and attend weekly planning meetings with client on all contractual issues in your area of responsibility

·         Collate the monthly progress claim with the project manager on work completed

·         Lead the business improvement projects across the site and assist with implementation of these projects with the other head of departments

·         Resolve technical issues which improve productivity of the Company to provide cost savings to the client

To be considered for this role you will demonstrate a successful career history in large scale mining operations including:

·         Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering

·         Frontline Management qualifications highly regarded

·         At least 10 years working experience in a Management role or similar

·         Evaluation of Mine Plans for Project opportunities/cost saving initiatives

·         Experience in implementing Six Sigma Business Improvement Projects

·         Strong Focus on safety- First Aid Certificate preferred

·         High standard of communication skills

·         Patience in training, communicating and monitoring subordinates under your supervision

·         Self-motivated with the ability to manage their own time to produce results

·         Able to think laterally with restrictions associated with working in Africa

·         Must have experience working in Africa

·         Fluent command of the French language is preferred

We will offer a competitive expatriate package comprising of salary, travel, messing, accommodation and insurance on single status. Work rosters will be offered on 9 weeks in Africa, 3 weeks R & R with travel to your point of hire.
