Location: Round Mountain, Nevada, USA

Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach.

Job Description

Under the general direction of the Mine Superintendent, will keep the operations department functioning in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining production goals

Job Responsibilities

  • Implementation of the current mine plan.
  • Ensure the safety of all personnel.
  • Provide training to all personnel in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Oversee the recruitment of new personnel.
  • Understand and continuously monitor schedules and priorities to maximize efficiency of the equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of department specific mining practices and procedures.
  • The ability to effectively manage the development of all staff members.
  • Develop crew skills to levels of maximum efficiency and safety.
  • Assign resources to tasks as per the plan and as required for non-planned activities.
  • Constantly monitor crew activities to ensure efficient, safe operations and make recommendations for revised procedures when problems are encountered.
  • Ensure consistency in the application of company policies and progressions.

Education and Experience

  • Strong understanding of mine planning function with the ability to adapt to daily changes in the mine plan.
  • Must be able to deal with unexpected mine plan changes.
  • Must work closely with the Human Resources Department to maintain adequate crew levels.
  • Strong technical knowledge of all pit equipment.
  • Mining or Civil Engineering degree required.
  • 15 years mining experience.
  • 10 years hands-on heavy equipment experience.
  • 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Requires valid driver’s license.

  • Wears Personal Protective Equipment at all times while in the production environment.
  • Is alert and observes, corrects, and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Follows operating procedures and complies with all regulatory requirements.
