We are recruiting experienced professionals to join our world-class Copper, Gold and Molybdenum Cobre Panama operation. The operation is equipped to treat 75Mtpa of ore, which will involve large-scale conventional open pit mining with in-pit primary crushing, milling, crushing and flotation.

The laboratory provides a critical service to all technical departments and houses facilities for handling and analysis of mining grade control, process plant metallurgical, and water samples.

Purpose of the role:

Reporting to the Chief Chemist, the Chemist will be responsible to supervise a shift team, focused on providing accurate and timely information.


* The role has accountability for performance of the equipment and personnel in the Analytical Laboratory on a shift basis;
* Maintain HSE standards and ensure strict compliance within the Laboratory team;
* Ensure all safety incidents are addressed & reported promptly;
* Maintain a very high standard of Laboratory housekeeping;
* Consistently deliver and exceed the main KPI's of timely (sampling, analysis and reporting) and accurate metallurgical analysis;
* Prioritize workloads and deliver analyses turnaround time obligations;
* Work with limited supervision to maintain very high standards of laboratory performance;
* Maintain Laboratory QA/QC system, and investigate and report all deviations in a timely manner;
* Monitor, control and report on Analytical Laboratory performance.


* A Tertiary Qualification in Chemistry or related field
* Minimum 5 years working as a Senior Chemist with a strong technical knowledge of base metal analytical laboratory techniques;
* Minimum 5 years appropriate experience in metallurgical test-work;
* Laboratory experience in a large copper concentrator highly regarded.
