Avesoro Resources are seeking a Geology Supervisor to work at our New Liberty Gold Mine in Liberia (West Africa). This is an expat role with a 6 week on/ 2 week off roster.

Reporting to Grade Control Manager, the Geology Superintendent will manage and maintain geological and geotechnical work in the mine and will oversee the grade control function when needed. There will also be a direct interface with the exploration teams working on near-mine targets. This person will work with the senior management, mining, geology professionals and will oversee a small team on the operating open pit gold mine.

Responsibilities will include:

Production Geology:

- Responsible for mine related geology work.
- Support the grade control function.
- Ensure that comprehensive and effective mapping is completed to develop a robust geological model of mineralization, structures and geotechnical features.
- Undertake in-pit mapping and 3D interpretation using various techniques.
- Integrate and interpret of all geological and sampling datasets to create 3D geological, structural, geochemical and geo-metallurgical models.
- Identify and quantify geotechnical and hydrogeology issues in the pit and provide the mining team with the necessary information to address them and incorporate the effects on the mine designs.
- Liaise with in-pit/ operational staff, mine planning and geotechnical engineers.

Management and Training

- Back-up the Grade Control Manager by managing the grade modelling, scheduling and demarcation using Micromine and/or Datamine and Maxwell database.
- Train, mentor and lead the staff within the Geology Department to increase their skills and mining knowledge.

Planning and Reporting:

- Assist with the budgeting, forecasting and reporting for the geological function.
- Ensure forward planning is undertaken


- Have experience in open pit gold mining geology, grade control and geotechnical mapping for a period of at least 5 years.
- Good hands-on experience in geology modelling and effective use of mining software

Qualifications and Knowledge:
- Have a BSc Geology degree or higher.
- Have a strong understanding of GIS software and ability to pick up on site package quickly (Micromine/ Datamine).


- Have an ability to use Microsoft Office to a high level.
- Have excellent English written and oral communication skills.
- Clean valid drivers' license (essential).
