This is an 18-month FIFO contract role focused on our mine construction project in Burkina Faso: 8 weeks on/4 weeks off on company time or 6 weeks on/3 weeks off on employee time.

Primary Purpose of Position:

  •          Applying company procedures on safety, attendance, discipline and performance
  •          A willingness to be flexible in working hours in order to assist other team members and the efficiency of the team
  •          Implement a sound procurement strategy for the total operation. 

Key Responsibilities:

  •        Manage the site based procurement team and ensure sound procurement practices are adopted and applied as follows
  •          Receives, audits and prioritize purchase requisitions and reviews for complete specifications, appropriate budget availability and delivery deadlines
  •          Determines priorities, schedules, and initiates requests for quotations, request for tenders, requests for proposals and expressions of interest
  •          Researches and selects suppliers, goods and services according to reliability, price, specifications, delivery options, terms and conditions
  •          Provide procurement advice, training and guidance to the purchasing support staff
  •          Establish and maintain sound working relationship with customers on site
  •          Assess local and international market opportunities, supplier qualifications, and ability of supplier to fulfill contractual obligations, quality of supplier response and quality of products
  •          Monitors and expedites orders through to completion and informs the supplier or end-users on order status and delivery
  •          Resolves supply shipping problems, invoicing, and receiving discrepancies through liaison with suppliers, the finance department and end-users
  •          Provide guidance and participate in the negotiation, implementation and maintenance of supply contracts
  •          Oversees the competitive bid process
  •          Opens and evaluates tenders/proposals and make award recommendations
  •          Take leading role in the procurement of capital assets
  •          Monitor and enhance Supplier performance
  •          Enhance and maintain good relations with suppliers both in Burkina Faso and International
  •          Monitors and reports on supplier performance and identifies potential risks
  •          Collaborates and negotiate with suppliers to provide improved service to the company
  •          Coordinate, interact and frequently monitor the logistics activities
  •          Liaison with of Freight Forwarding companies and evaluation of their performance and conduct
  •          Ensure effective freight methods and consolidation strategies
  •          Timely and accurate daily, weekly, monthly and annual reporting
  •             Ad hoc projects as requested

·            Required Skills & Experience

  •          University Diploma or equivalent degree qualification
  •          Minimum 10 years in supply chain management
  •          Advanced level of computer literacy in particular MS Office suite
  •          Knowledge of an integrated computerized purchasing department in a medium to large organization – Pronto ERP experience will be advantageous
  •          Knowledge of contract negotiations, contract management and contract law affecting procurement practices
  •          Knowledge of the competitive bidding process, including the development of bid documents
  •          French language skills an asset
