Job Description

The Mining Dispatcher role is responsible for ongoing operation of Mine Technology Systems to achieve and exceed production targets at Tasiast.  These currently include, but are not limited to:  Modular Mining Dispatch System, Aquila High Precision Drill System, Provision High Precision Shovel System, Tasiast IP Camera network and Tasiast Mine Management Reporting System (MMRS).  The Mining Dispatcher will utilize these systems to drive efficiencies in Tasiast Mining Operations, while collecting detailed, accurate data on material movements and equipment time usage. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the efficient use of Tasiast haulage fleet by constant monitoring and adjustment of Dispatch optimization algorithms and manual intervention if required
  • Issue of clear and concise work instructions to Load and Haul operators.
  • Maintenance of all mine model parameters required to ensure accurate function of Dispatch system.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate execution of the Tech Services Daily Plan.
  • Ensure material movement priorities allocated as per the Tech Services Daily Plan.
  • Continuously iterate over shift production data to ensure an extremely high level of accuracy.
  • Liaise Maintenance Dispatch personnel to ensure efficient transfer of equipment to and from an operational state.
  • Liaise with Mine Technology Specialists to ensure timely and accurate reporting of system defects.
  • Reconcile Time usage data with stake holders from Maintenance, Load and Haul, Drill and Blast, Technical Services and other departments daily.
  • Report, coach and performance manage field operators to ensure correct use of Dispatch, Machine Guidance and other systems.
  • Use systems to continuously monitor Tasiast Mine for Hazards and report and act accordingly, these systems include but are not limited to: Geotechnical Radar, IP Cameras and Lightning Detector.
  • Implement changes to the Dispatch operating model as per instruction from the Dispatch Superintendent.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve production and equipment usage within the scope of the Technical Services Mine Plan.
  • Facilitate the smooth and efficient transition between normal mining operations and a shutdown state, this includes but is not limited to: Shift Change, Blasting, Weather stoppage, Industrial action.
  • Self-monitor performance and make adjustments where needed based on short interval control reports delivered by Dispatch system, MMRS and other systems.
  • Provide detailed commentary and contextual information to shift reports daily to explain variations to plan.
  • Receive emergency calls and act according to Tasiast Mining Emergency management plan.

Education and Experience

  • Mining/Operations engineer degree or equivalent
  • High level of Strong verbal communication skills in English & French
  • Mining experience is an asset
  •  computer literacy.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach and performance manage others.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Fluent in French, Arabic and some level of understanding of local languages (Hassaniya, pulaar, soninké…)
  • High level of English.
