Assist with and provide consultation to plan, supervise, coordinate, evaluate, analyze and provide recommendations regarding all geotechnical aspects including ongoing monitoring requirements of existing and future Mass Excavations being service facilities to ensure mining activities in Underground can be optimized for safe and efficient production.
Additional Responsibilities:
1.            Assist to plan, coordinate, analyze and evaluate all the geotechnical aspects of future Mass Excavations such as crusher stations, heads and tail facilities as well as workshops and other large service facilities.
2.            Through direct involvement within multidisciplinary co-ordination, ensure there is sufficient on-going geology data collection as well as geotechnical classification and hydrological information of the excavations so that appropriate support recommendations can be made with assistance from the General Superintendent of the area involved.
3.            Monitor, analyze and evaluate monitoring systems already installed, do gap analysis and recommend any further mitigation measures in conjunction with management to ensure the level of information is relevant for the level of risk of the excavation.
4.            With assistance from GDS and monitoring team, review the reporting of monitoring results via database system and ensure the output is suitable for management and clients.
5.            Analyze and evaluate the Plans of Intent (POI) for new Mass Excavations and give assistance to the Engineers involved in drawing up the mining sequences as well as support recommendations taking all geology and geotechnical aspects into account.
6.            Liaise with QAQC department to ensure that installations of support systems are to standard and where necessary, recommend a revision/rehabilitation of installed support if there are non-conformance issues that could compromise safety or production.
7.            Motivate and assist in the training and technology transfer to junior and middle staff Engineers so that the collective knowledge of the department is increased.
8.            Ensure appropriate level of data sharing, technical appraisals and co-operation with internal and external consultants so that a smooth implementation of the planning and mining of Mass Excavation is achieved.
9.            Provide comprehensive practical geotechnical recommendations, in order to achieve safe and efficient production, underground development and ongoing monitoring.
10.          In order to achieve maximum result for special project and assignment as a whole program in relation to Mass Excavation within new Geotechnical project; the incumbent should be able to coordinate with other related departments (Underground Operation, Underground Engineering, Geology, Survey, Hydrology and Diamond Drilling), in order to obtain all data with maximum output useful for Geotechnical recommendation.
11.          The incumbent needs to be fully conversant with the various monitoring as well as related data acquisition and database systems to be able to aid the overall management of implementing these key installations.
12.          Authorize to stop or to continue Mass Excavation mining, support and stability monitoring activity after looking through geotechnical analyses and ongoing results from instrumentation/monitoring aspect whether the area is safe or unsafe for the activity.
13.          Authorize to define whether the Underground area at both active mines and abandon mine is safe or unsafe for mining activity.
14.          Authorize to define stability and instability area and provide recommendation to Underground Operation and Underground Development for preventive action.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Mining Engineering, Geology or Civil with at least ten (10) years working experience in related field of Geotechnical Engineering or Mining.
  • Strong Geotechnical analysis.
  • Strong coordination skills.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a culturally diversified workforce
  • Strong computer skills such as VULCAN, AUTOCAD, AQuire, Mining Software and Computer Graphics.
  • Strong English skills, both oral and written
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • High level communication and presentation skills
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic level of the Indonesian language in understanding and oral (preferable but not essential).
