Job Description

Reporting to the HSE Training Supervisor, Professionally develop and deliver Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) courses to a culturally diverse range of learners, in a classroom environment. Contribute as a member of a large team of educational professionals, at all times demonstrating those behaviors that fully support Training and Development Department (T&D) values, Tasiast corporate and HR Department polices, as well as Kinross Gold Corporations (KGC) policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate behaviors that match T&D values, follow and apply Tasiast Safety/Health/Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures, in order to be a role model for development program participants;
  • Demonstrate competence in the principles and application of competency based learning;
  • Ability to develop and deliver learning materials based on HSE procedures when requested;
  • Assist to create competency based learning materials so that learning programs delivered achieve their intended learning outcomes;
  • Understand and competently apply professionally accepted principles of adult learning so that learners are given maximum opportunity to develop job competence;
  • Assist to create competency based assessment tools, professionally conduct on and off the job competency assessments in field of expertise, in order to ensure assessment standards are met;
  • Assist to schedule and communicate HSE Learning Programs, follow schedules to ensure that programs are delivered as planned;
  • Accurately record participant learning and assessment results so that participants’ records are consistently kept up to date and recorded in the company learning management system (LMS).

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in the field related to Environment, Occupational Health or Equivalent years of experience;
  • Extensive experience in vocational training;
  • Experience in metallurgical industry or natural resources in the Organization of training activities, ideally in the context of the opening of a mine;
  • Must  Read, Write and Speak French & English;
  • Ability to understand and converse in National Languages;
  • Experience working in a training center environment;
  • Ability to Meeting the learning needs of individual learners;
  • Ability to meet department requirements.


• Clear understanding of S.O.P. for all mine equipment
• Must possess a solid mechanical knowledge of air, hydraulic, and gear-driven equipment
• Ability to evaluate pit problems and operating situations and apply a safe and efficient solution
• Good working knowledge and skill with a PC utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs
