African Mining Services (AMS) is one of the largest Contract Mining Companies in Africa with established support networks in Africa, Australia and Europe. AMS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ausdrill Limited, a publicly listed Australian Company (ASX: ASL).


We are seeking motivated, high caliber applicants who have a proven track record in maintaining Schramm, Atlas Copco, DRA and Sandvik Drill and Blast and Grade Control Drill Rigs in an open pit mining environment. This unique opportunity will be based in West Africa with an immediate start to the successful applicant.

Key responsibilities include: 

·     Ensuring that the companies Drill Fleet is maintained to AMS Standards

·     Ensuring high standards of Safety, Environmental and Quality Assurance on the project

·     Achievement of key KPI’s and departmental budgetary targets

·     Analysis of information relating to drill maintenance and performance

·     Ensure all drill rig maintenance is carried out as per AMS maintenance plan

·     Prepare weekly, monthly, and yearly drill maintenance plans

·     Train and mentor all site based personnel to ensure they reach their full potential

Preferred qualifications and experience: 

·         Trade Qualified with a degree or diploma

·         5 years surface drill maintenance experience including grade control

·         A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience at Supervisory/Management level

·         Well demonstrated Planning and Supervision skills 

·         Patience in training, communicating, and monitoring subordinates under your supervision

·         Well developed computer skills – Word and Excel

·         Be able to think laterally with restrictions associated with working in Africa

·         French Language would be an advantage

Applicants will be flexible individuals who can work under pressure in order to meet deadlines. In addition, excellent communication skills, along with demonstrated people management skills are essential.  An attractive expatriate salary package including accommodation, travel, insurance on a 9 and 3 week roster will be offered to the successful applicant.
